Their representative in all their departments sucks; each time you talk to someone, all they can do is: - Apologize but don't fix the problem -Tell you they will follow up or call you with a follow-up but never does.
They don't consider out-of-state students, knowing the time difference and the location of the out-of-state students. My experience with them has been horrible; they have brought 4x more stress in my life than my job and life.
I can't rely on them for the proper support and assistance I need at the time as an out-of-state student working hard to earn a degree.
I keep begging them for help. I regret signing up with them, but they were the only university offering the course I needed online. I would never recommend anyone to them. Michael Worley. At fifty years of age I decided I could no longer compete in acute hospital nursing.
I came with a BSN, 30 year backgrounds in critical-emergency care, as well as medical-surgical, and telemetry nursing. My wife of 20 years was supportive of my ASD behaviors and desire to step back from night shift bedside nursing which interferes with our personal lives. I feel that I could have never qualified for the standard bricks-and-mortar educational structure of a University.
The hybrid Phoenix model best served my educational needs while allowing my to work full time. The UofP 'learning team' model was very difficult but I was fortunate to finally find a handful of equally devoted classmates. Our class were told that the UofP program would "prepare us to work in a 'Minute-Clinic', pass our national APRN boards, but that our first year as credentialled Nurse Practitioners would give us the most challenges.
All three predictions were correct. I was fortunate to find a job as a 'new grad' NP and went through severe on-the-job stress. The hardest part as an ASD nurse was to "put on the NT mask" for job interviews: I've dreaded these challenges throughout my life when I'm expected to 'act like normal people'.
Once on the job I was able to relax. I am one of the ' I owe my success partly to its academic ,model, but not ALL. This may not be the 'best fit' for every student. At least reconsider as to what school your going to. I walked away with a single cert, and nothing more which as you may already know, in the IT world. They care very heavy on certs. I got a bachelors in information technology and I don't have any of the basic certs. I am only learning this after having gotten my degree and checking out the career field.
I would recommend you to go on indeed or another job search website, in your local area and type in whatever it career field you want. See what certs you need and go from where. A lot of the jobs require you to have some years of experience in whatever field, at least 2 years but they supplement those years of experience if you have a masters. But again If you dont have any certs, your not going to get into the IT field with just a degree. The company will choose someone who has a degree and all the certs and more, over you with just your IT degree.
Because the certs show that you know what your doing. The degree doesn't. Keep this in mind if your going to get a degree in IT. I would also look at another school and see or ask what are all the IT certs you are going to walk away with when completing the program.
I walked away with only 1 cert. Thats it. And it still doesnt help me get a job. Just keep that in mind when looking for a job before you decide to spend your GI bill or personal money into getting a degree.
Almost Done. It provided me the flexibility to turn in assignments whenever I want. No following a schedule or calendar. There were no labs or anything. Second, I had a bad experience with a professor that was a harsh grader I had to retake the course. Pretty much half the course failed. He was one of the worst professors I have ever taken. To make matters worse the quarterly earnings reports for the past year have been dismal.
Sometimes I hear comments about my degree not being accepted or recognized. I'm not sure if the rumors are true but it's very pervasive.
UOP may have more MBA students enrolled than any other university and the numbers aren't even close but it doesn't mean it's a best school.
I still depend on my bachelor degree from another university and my work experience to get me through. Going back to school is a big decision and it takes a lot of time and money. Choose wisely and buyer beware of UOP. Like everyone else looking for a job I keep thinking that if I had more education or training or something I would get hired for a job.
I don't have the time or money to go to a 4 year school. I can't even go part time to a local community college. I see everywhere they advertise online education at university of phoenix and they have the degrees I want to get. They have great loans and I was looking at their degree in information systems. If I am going to take out huge loans to do an online degree then I would hope that I could use it to get a job afterwards.
I did some research online and what I found somewhat scared me. First everyone seems to say that a degree from this online school doesn't mean anything and second many call it a scam. They even have an entire website dedicated to this so called scam.
Not sure I can risk this type of money. I read on the above report that only 2 percent of people enrolling graduate and that many defaut on their student loans at university of phoenix. I can't afford to go bankrupt again and my credit will be ruined.
If anyone has actually got a job after going to the university of phoenix I would like to know about that. I am sure some have and I know the people who complain make the most noise. Or are there other online schools that are more reputable? Not unless you call them and raise hell.

And within a shorter time. So I can't complain. You can't JUST rely on your degree to get a job. Lastly, if you just want a paper degree to pass a checkmark with HR, this is it. If you are expecting to get a high end corporate job with this degree, look elsewhere.
Government doesn't mind, if that's your goal. Investing in one's self is truly priceless and you will want to shop around as a frugal, financially shrewd consumer to make sure that you're getting the best value for your hard earned dollar. Clearly, anyone reading my review will need to do their own research to make sure they are making the best financial move. But I will simply say that any prospective student should visit the campus as well as speak to the faculty before making any educational decision.
University of Phoenix is the best college I have ever attended. People who say this university is easy, was not telling the truth.
The negative review are lies. I am a straight A's student with a high G. A and I must say the courses at the university are intense.
You really got to put in the work, If you don't, you will fail. All the bashing and negative feedback towards U. P once lead me to believe it was true, and at first gave me a negative reaction, until I experience it for myself.
P is an overall good college and would definitely suggest this college to anyone who is ambitious, motivated and college ready. I am currently an online student at UOP. The option to do online school has helped balance my work life, mom life, church life, and school life.
I honestly think if I didn't have the option to do online school, I probably wouldn't have pursue getting my degree. What I like about the program is how it is outlined, you do one class at a time instead of 3 or 4 classes through a course of a semester or quarter. The 5 week course allows me to concentrate on one subject at a time instead of 3 or 4.
Although the course is accelerated through 5 weeks, I'm able to put my attention to 1 course at a time. I know there are a lot of negative comments about the new blackboard. Honestly, I think it works a lot better and gives me less time reading discussions and concentrating more on the course reading.
But like all things, you need to apply yourself and put in the work. As a manager, to me this shows dedication and drive to be able to get through these classes. However, online school isn't for everyone. Make sure you're doing your research before committing to any school. I spent almost a year before I decided on taking my degree program with UOP. I will be graduating with my B. The professors are all very knowledgeable in their fields, are very supportive, and the online platform works well for me being that I have a full-time job and no time to make it to a brick and mortar college campus.
I have absolutely no complaints about the program, the online platform, or anything in general related to my experience at UoP. It has been an incredible experience!
